Shot/Reverse Shot Screening Series
Shot/Reverse Shot (S/RS) is a semesterly film screening series organized by Bass School graduate students. Since its inception in Spring 2022, graduate students have curated screenings of narrative and documentary films on timely themes such as human rights, gender, and sexuality. The film screenings are typically followed by interdisciplinary discussions led by UTD faculty members and graduate students and occasionally by the filmmakers themselves. The screenings and discussions open up a space for intellectually stimulating conversations about the art of cinema and the role of film in society, politics, and culture.
Vision and Mission
S/RS is envisioned as a platform that emphasizes the sociocultural dimensions of cinema. By featuring carefully curated films from outside the “mainstream,” S/RS amplifies socially and politically relevant conversations. For graduate students, S/RS provides an opportunity to develop curatorial, collaborative, and networking skills. S/RS encourages inter/cross-disciplinary exchanges by bringing faculty members and researchers from diverse disciplines together.
